OET is an English language proficiency test designed specifically for healthcare professionals, assessing Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking skills.

OET is designed for professionals from 12 healthcare fields, including Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and other allied healthcare professions.

There is no fixed limit on the number of OET attempts. Candidates can retake the exam as required.

There is no universal OET pass score. Required scores vary depending on the healthcare regulator, employer, university, or organisation you are applying to.

Effective OET preparation includes understanding the exam format, practising all four sub-tests, taking mock tests, and receiving expert feedback to improve performance.

OET Eligibility

The Occupational English Test (OET) is designed for healthcare professionals who need to demonstrate their English communication skills for professional registration, employment, study, or migration. It is available across 12 healthcare professions, including Medicine and Nursing.

OET Listening Test

The OET Listening test takes approximately 40 minutes and includes 42 questions across three parts. It assesses your ability to understand consultations, workplace conversations, presentations, and other healthcare-related spoken communication.

OET Reading Test

The OET Reading test lasts 60 minutes and consists of 42 questions across three parts. It evaluates your ability to locate, understand, and interpret information from healthcare-related texts.

OET Writing Test

The OET Writing test is a 45-minute, profession-specific assessment with one writing task based on a healthcare workplace situation. Candidates are required to communicate relevant clinical information clearly and appropriately for the intended reader.

OET Speaking Test

The OET Speaking test takes approximately 20 minutes and includes two profession-specific role plays. It assesses your ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in realistic interactions with patients, carers, or clients.

OET Exam Modes

The OET exam is available in three modes: OET on Paper, OET on Computer, and OET@Home. Candidates can choose an available test mode based on their location, convenience, and testing preferences.

OET test dates are available throughout the year, with availability depending on the test mode and location. Candidates can select a suitable date based on the available testing schedule.
